Let’s be honest about something. Carrying a cloth bag is not always the easy option. You forget it sometimes. It takes up a little extra space. The plastic bag at the counter is just sitting there, free, no thinking required.
So why bother.
For us, it goes back to our grandmothers. Neither of them ever stepped out of the house without a cloth bag, usually one they’d stitched themselves. It wasn’t a statement, it wasn’t for the planet, it was just how things were done. You carried a cloth bag because that’s what you carried.
Somewhere along the way, that habit got replaced by convenience. And convenience isn’t a bad thing, but it came with a cost we didn’t really notice happening. Plastic bags everywhere, used for ten minutes and then sitting in landfills for decades.
We’re not going to pretend one cloth bag changes that overnight. But habits are built one small repeat at a time. If you keep a bag folded in your everyday tote, or one in the car, or one by the front door, you’ll find you actually do reach for it more often than not. Not out of guilt. Just because it’s right there.
That’s really all we’re asking for. Not a lifestyle overhaul. Just a bag that’s around when you need it, so reaching for it becomes the easy choice instead of the hard one.
Our grandmothers didn’t think twice about it. We’re just trying to make it that simple again.
